Good Sweater But Weird Sizing

Material is very nice and thick, will definitely keep me warm this winter. Bought a large first and it was massive on my (male 5'-9", ~170 LB). Exchanged for a medium but it's hard to get my head through the head hole. Going to cut a notch so my big head can fit through.
